Scouting for the right dress
12 Aug

It is a year away from my wedding and all I can think of is finding the right dress! Forget the floral arrangements, the wedding theme, the venue (for now)…its all about the dress!
There is so much to think about when looking for the perfect dress. Lace or sequins? A line or sheath? Strapless or halter? Traditional or contemporary? So many questions asked, yet the only way to find out is to try it out and look yourself in the mirror. Of course make sure your bridesmaid(s) or mum are around to give you the honest second opinion.
Talented bridal designers such as Monique Lhuiller, Elie Saab and Alex Perry will tailor the perfect silhouette for your special day…only if you’re willing to spend the money. Some bride-to-be ‘invest’ in these gowns only to justify to themselves that they would love to see their daughter in it too. One would ask, would their daughters turn out to be of the same size, have the same taste as their mother 30 years ago??? Its questionable. On the practical side, why not visit a local tailor and ask them to create a similar design to your favourite designer dress. Then again, I would question whether it’ll turn out exactly the way you want it to look like. For a fraction of the original price, some might not mind. I however, have not made up my mind on whether I will resort to a designer wedding gown or to get it tailor made…
After all, my wedding is a year away and I still have plenty of time to decide:)

Another super important thing to think about when picking your frock is the type of material and it’s friendship with the camera. I never knew that some satins/ silks get along better with the camera than others. Ask your designer about this one!
