Short n sweet with Allan Wu

You’ve seen him host The Amazing Race Asia‘ and hop, skip & jump all over the world – albeit his busy lifestyle Allan (who is currently on holiday in L.A!) kindly spared TWG a few minutes to drop us a few lines…6256_102016863145345_100000110958369_35885_6353367_n

How long have you been married? My wife Wong Li Lin and I have been married for over five years now.

Describe married life – As long as one understands that being (and staying) married is a “two way street” where both parties have to continually work at it, then married life is a most rewarding and fulfilling experience.

How did you propose to your lovely wife? One early morning as we were about to catch a plane, I “popped the question” while Li Lin was still in a daze.  Sure, I was nervous, but I think proposing to her while she had just woken up gave me some confidence.  ;-)

What kind of wedding did you have? Our wedding was actually extremely modest.  To avoid all the press and media in Singapore, we simply flew to America to have a small affair.

We often hear that men aren’t involved in the wedding planning – did you get into it? Not really.  I helped the time and location, and that was about it.

Any advice for guys out there looking to pop the question! Don’t overthink it and just relax.  If this lucky girl really is the one for you, then you really got nothing to lose in expressing to her how you truly feel.  Good luck!

Its true, for a relationship to work it is a “two way street”! And I completely agree with having a small more intimate wedding…..with just really close friends and family. What a nice guy !! Ahhhhhh

haha, well-said Hannah. A case of give & take. Though I prefer two weddings – one big and one small!

It was on our 2nd anniversary when I came out of the bathroom after a long shower and Joel was on his knees with flowers he got from the 7Eleven around the corner. I think my heart stopped beating when he asked me to mary him…He later told me that he suddenly realised that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me.
