Beautiful Japanese-themed Wedding

27 Aug

Welcome to an amazing array of photos from the out of this world wedding of Raezal and Asyura. Shot by Johan and Mark, photographers from WGA vendor ‘Stories by Integricity’, this is a wedding set to dazzle. Held at the Shangri-La in Kuala Lumpur, the couple decided to hold a Malay wedding that was different from the norm – and settled on a Japanese theme! Scroll below for stunning pics and decoration… if you have the budget, I would definitely spend on the decor! Great decor and a great photographer = beautiful photos.

Raezal’s grandmother is Datin Mariam Abdullah, who is Japanese. Which is why the couple came up with the whole idea of ‘turning Japanese’. Check out Raezal’s henna “tattoo” on his arms – it translates to “Just Married”. And then also tattooed their names in bar code! Henna is a great idea as it rubs off in a few weeks, personally I think getting an actual tattoo is just a tad too painful and something only Angelina Jolie might do.

Cherry blossom flowers and pink lighting set the tone. Reminds you of those ads of Japan in the Spring, no? Look closely, even the chairs have gone Japanese!

To keep inline with the theme, Asyura carried a fan instead of a bouquet of flowers. And of course the flowergirls are all decked out in lovely pink kimonos. Kawaii des ne (cute)!

Why hello! The previous Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi (favourably known as Pak Lah) and his wife Tun Jeanne also graced the event.

Japanese wishing trees and flowers fill the ballroom…

and together with the little details create that ‘wow’ factor.

At a Malay wedding, the bride and groom must sit on a “pelamin” (wedding dais) to receive well-wishes from their guests. As you can see above, the dais became two japanese-styled chairs instead! Very zen.

When you are going to have a smashing wedding, you may as well go all out! Malaysian singer, Anuar Zain belts out some hits.

I really do love the flowergirls attire! They are just adorable with their buns and kimonos.

Congratulations from WGA to Raezal and Asyura for having a truly beautiful wedding! I think it’s quite honestly one of the best weddings I’ve seen at the Shangri-la thus far.

    Hi,

Just wanted to know who did the decor, it’s absolutly charming! Did shangri-la do it for them or did they hire someone from outside?

Hi Jasmine! It was done by the couple’s wedding planner, Farida and you can contact her at 0122980473. Don’t forget to mention the couple’s name :) Good luck!
