Pre-Wedding Photos In Picturesque Prague
19 Nov

The power and reach of the Internet never ceases to surprise me. While most of our readers are from Malaysia, Singapore and Australia, we do have visitors from as far as Norway and even South Africa. But when I got an e-mail from Kurt Vinion, a photographer in Prague, it goes to show… you never know who’s reading!
Kurt is an international award-winning photojournalist and wedding photographer who lives in Prague but regularly shoots weddings in the Czech Republic and Europe. Lately, he’s had a few clients from Asia come his way which is how he ended up on Wedding Guide Asia (yay!). So without further ado, here’s our first-ever post from Prague:
Who: Singaporean couple Kristal and Yong

Prague is the capital of the Czech Republic and is one of the most visited cities in Europe. And why not? Prague is home to many renowned historical sites and is on the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites. But if history ain’t your thing, then just stroll around the city and take in the beautiful scenery. There’s always something to do in Prague with its many concert halls, galleries, cinemas and music clubs.

Kristal & Yong’s story:
We met at the age of 15 while we were in secondary school in Singapore. We started off as good friends, who could talk about anything under the sun, and slowly over time our relationship blossomed. Our relationship crossed many continents as Kristal went off to the US for her undergraduate studies, while Yong stayed in Singapore to complete his national service. Then, Yong went to the UK to pursue a medical degree, while Kristal worked in Singapore after her graduation. Tired of this long-distance between us, Kristal decided to pursue a PhD in UK and accompany Yong while he completes his medical degree.

Why Prague?
As our relationship is characterized by lots of traveling – we have been to numerous countries and cities all over the world – we decided that our wedding shoot should showcase this passion that we share: traveling. While other couples may choose to take their wedding photos at a location where they have shared many memories, we decided to explore a new country and create new memories. We chose Prague because we have heard that it is one of the most beautiful and romantic cities in the world. But a scenic location is not the only thing you require for a wedding photo shoot. We wanted a good photographer and also a stress-free photo shoot, so we could enjoy ourselves (and look good!). After researching online, we were impressed by Kurt Vinion’s experience and the ease of engaging a make-up artist, hair stylist, etc. through the contacts he provided.

Afterthoughts?
We are very pleased with the photo shoot. The day before the photo shoot, we met up with Kurt and discussed our ideas with him. We were amazed at how friendly he was and how we managed to build a rapport within the short one hour. After the discussion, we were reassured and less nervous about the photo shoot. During the photo shoot, Kurt was efficient and brimming with ideas for poses and angles. Kurt was always trying to ignite our passion as he believes that wedding photos should showcase the love and connection between the couple. We were also assisted by the make-up artist and hair stylist during the entire shoot. This was very important as we wanted to look our best from every angle and during every shot.

Moving from one location to another, we were also able to take in the beauty of the city. The cobbled streets and the Gothic buildings created a romantic atmosphere for every girl’s dream fairytale wedding! In fact, we felt as if we were characters from a fairytale because we were attracting a lot of attention from passersby. We were not only the center of attraction everywhere we went, we also received lots of congratulations and well-wishes from locals and tourists alike. Finally, the results, in the form of the photos we received, are proof of the skill of the photographer and how much we enjoyed ourselves during the shoot!
When to go:
Most tourists from Asia usually travel in November, but the best time of the year is really October – because the leaves are changing and the light is gorgeous. Summer is equally wonderful as we have long summer days and stunning sunsets. Winter is from December to March and can be especially cold, so make sure you’re wrapped up!
Where to stay:
We work with many fine hotels such as the Mandarin Oriental, the Alchymst, the Aria hotel and if people want a place such as a holiday flat we can recommend Apartments in Prague as their flats are located in the historical heart of Prague.
* Thank you to Kurt, Kristal & Yong for sharing their photos with WGA. You’ve got the whole team here dreaming of a holiday in Prague! Boys & girls, if you’d like to get in touch with Kurt, kindly pop on his website or e-mail him at info@kurtvinion.com. And for booking of hotels etc. try www.lastminute.com. I’ve used them before for Paris and got quite a good deal!
