My pre-wedding photos!

11 Aug

With the wedding around the corner, I must say I’ve done almost everything a bride-to-be needs to do before her big day (Hens Party and even a trip to Guang Zhou). It is an exciting time for my husband-to-be, family, friends and of course myself. The day is almost here, after 4 long years of being engaged to each other and making the commitment to start a new life together. Of course at times we get on each other’s nerves with disagreements over certain wedding matters, but at the end of the day, it’s all about compromising with each other.

Although there is this rush everyday now to make sure things are in order and that the checklist has been checked over and over again, it wasn’t until we took our pre-wedding pictures that Sunday morning did it finally sink in that we were getting married!

Our pre-wedding photographer was none other than the very professional, Daren Chong. I swear he made us feel at ease and working with him was heaps of fun. (more…)

Prepare your emergency bridal kit!

With my maids of honour - Jeni & Steph!

Hey everyone!

With my Hens party over and done with, I now find myself with a million and one things to do before my wedding next month. Luckily, I appointed not one, but two maids of honour (two best friends lah).

So this also explains why I am only an occasional contributor – being a bride means being busy!

Anyways, I want to share with you my ‘EMERGENCY BRIDAL KIT’ which Steph & Jeni are supposed to prepare for the big day. Since many things can go wrong, one should be prepared. This is my own list I made up but if you have any other ideas, please feel free to comment!

My E.B.K:

Small sewing kit (should someone stand on my gown etc!)

Safety pins

Tissue paper (for crying, sweating etc!)

Lipstick (pucker those lips)

Compact powder (defence against the Malaysian humidity)

Mints (who ate the garlic)

Pen and small note pad

List of contacts for vendors and wedding planners (be organised)

Bandaid (Okie, I hope I don’t need this!)

Perfume (all the bridesmaids and I must use the same perfume! My friend’s wedding planner in Australia advised me on this…)

Panadol, Zyrtec allergy pills (for my fiance), Charcoal pills, Poh Chai pills

Water

Wet wipes

Hairbrush

Toothpick

An update on my wedding plans!

I'm still around!

I'm still around!

Hello WGA readers!

Long time no chat, but don’t forget I am a busy bride-to-be and a full-time employee (not to mention 24/7 fiance haha). Steph has asked me to update everyone on my wedding plans and experience thus far. If you have any questions please feel free to leave a comment and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can! My wedding is only 5 months away now! Bridezilla stress? Yes!!!

Marriot
Venue
: There are two wedding venues – Marriott KL for the reception and we are still deciding on another smaller venue for the registration. Whatever the case, it will definitely not be at the government office! Although I’m up for the idea of an outdoor wedding, the reality is I would like my guests to be comfortable and not make a mad dash for an air-conditioned room after the registration. Ideally, I’d like the vibe of the registration to be very personal and intimate – where guests can relax, mingle and enjoy the canapés and champagne.

Canapes
Menu: Canapés and champagne for the registration and a ten-course Chinese banquet at Marriott. Thinking of serving the wedding cake too as we wanted a real cake!

Prov
Bridal Gown:
Decided on Pronovias and it is taking 20 weeks to make… ordered it in January and it’s only coming in May – very anxious!! Simply in love with the lace detailing and the trail of the dress. Unfortunately, I can’t show you a photo should my fiance be secretly reading WGA (the above pic is instead from the Pronovias 2011 collection)! My bridesmaids will all be in chiffon champagne dresses and are designing it themselves.

Jiangnan-Dadao
Kwa (Chinese gown)
: I bought this in Guangzhou during my recent trip there. Head to Jiangnan Dadao which is also known as ‘street of bridal shops’. (more…)

Clever wedding food & drink ideas

Naked-wedding

Food for thought? Haha.

In Asia, one could say that Chinese, Malay and Western cuisine are most commonly seen during wedding banquets. I went to a Malaysian friend’s wedding in Perth last year and she had some funky food ideas such as serviettes that had ‘Eat, drink & MARRY’ on them. Feeling inspired, I thought I’d research quirky F&B ideas for weddings!

clever-food-ideas

Have a sense of humour and create cocktail flags that say ‘i do!’

Or be trendy and serve soup in a cup. Much more sociable and easy to ‘down’.

candies

We often forget about children attending OR should I say, the child in us all. Play around with candy to add colour and jazz to your wedding decoration and flavour. (more…)

Hip pre-wedding pics by FIFOTO!

Fifoto photography just sent in these BEAUTIFUL pre-wedding photos of Victor & Niz. Here’s what wedding photographer Fiona of FIFOTO wrote about them on her blog:

I have just three words to describe this couple: – YOUNG, HIP & HAPPENING! Of course, I kinda already knew they were the non-traditional, young & cool couple when they refused to take any conventional photos and requested for rustic shots in abandoned lots. Yesterday’s shoot confirmed it! These two are just adorable together! Other than the fact that both of them can equally outdo each other in posing, they surprised Jason & I when they burst into some funky dance moves wayyyyyyy early in the morning! We had soooooooooo much fun photographing the cute couple and here are some of my favorite shots!
