Who Is Romona Keveza?

Hollywood’s leading ladies like Lea Michelle, Julia Stiles, Jennifer Love Hewitt and Christina Hendricks are drawn to her frocks but not many people know who is the mysterious lady behind it all. It turns out that Lithuanian-Canadian Keveza has been making her mark for quite some time now.

According to the NY Times, she opened her first store, La Maison, with $15,000 of her own money in 1986 and started to focus on her own designs three years later. Keveza’s known mainly for her wedding gowns, available at Saks and Neiman Marcus, priced from $3,000 all the way up to $35,000.

5 Ultimate Bridal Shower Games

There’s no better way to celebrate a bride-to-be than with a bridal shower. Preparing a bridal shower isn’t that impossible a task if you get good advice and help from people who know their stuff, but where do you start?

1. Get crafty!

Plan an arts-and-crafts project to break the ice especially if you’re one who hangs out with artistic crowds. Stock up on Play-Doh, paper, finger paint, and collage materials for all of your guests and brace yourself for some big fun!

2. Mind your manners.

The idea here is to have your guests answer extremely hilarious wedding etiquette questions. Write a wedding etiquette question on each index card — the more outrageous the scenario, the better. Think of some nuptial nightmares like: What do you do if the best man accidentally trips the bride? If two groomsmen get involved in a brawl at the altar? If you see the groom’s uncle stealing a couple of wine bottles from the underground cellar?

Hand out one etiquette card to each guest and have her write down an honest response to the situation. Then, have the bridal party gather all the cards and read the questions and answers aloud.

3. Walk down Memory Lane.

Hand out pieces of paper and have each guest write a memory of a great time had with the bride, but don’t write your name or initials on it! The bridesmaids will collect the pieces of paper and take the bride on a bit of a memory trip. All the guests will have to guess who … played hookie on the first day of exams; met a dreamy Italian artist on a weekend in Venice and more.

4. Test how well the groom knows the bride.

Before the bridal shower, ask the groom 10 questions about the bride and their relationship: Who initiated the first move? What’s her most annoying domestic habit? At the bridal shower, ask the bride the same questions and see how many answers they have in common. But remember to always mind your audience — don’t go asking questions about the first time they spent the night together if Mama fierce is going to be there. Guide To The Chic Chinoiserie Wedding

24 Jan

Here at WGA, we’re well aware that everyone’s probably still very much in the Chinese New Year mood (Well, at least I know I am!). So, we’ve decided to write a little feature on how to have a fabulous chinoiserie wedding!

Chinoise what? Just in case you were wondering, chinoiserie is (originally) French for an object or decoration reflecting Chinese qualities or motifs. If you’re planning a spring wedding or a party pertaining to Asian cultures or travel, well you’re in luck! Here are some ideas of ways to incorporate a little chinoiserie chic into your wedding.

Cherry blossom icing? Talk about yum! The cake topper translates to “Double Happiness,” an auspicious Chinese blessing. And of course, no Chinese wedding tea ceremony can ever be complete without an heirloom tea set…

Chinoiserie programs, anyone? Come on, you gotta love the DIY Chinese frog buttons! The jars could be filled with scrumptious little treats, like macadamias, rock candy or even Jelly Bellies!

Don’t you just hate it when you have to chuck away your wedding decorations when the party is over? Here’s a tip: always be on the lookout for fun, functional and reusable wedding decor. Chinoiserie-inspired plates and dividers are a couple of good ideas! (more…)

What’s Your Job Description? Know Your Duty As One Of The Bridal Party

17 Jan

Just got engaged and not sure how to kick start the planning? First of all, you need to organise yourself a bridal party. Your bridal party will include not only the people whom you’ll count on to help you with the planning but they’re also the ones you’d want by your side when you walk down the aisle and say your vows.  By tradition, every member of the wedding party has his/her set of designated duties. If you’re not too sure what they are…

Try not to outshine the bride, ladies - unless you can't help it, like Pippa Middleton ;-)

Maid/Matron of Honour

  • Plan the shower. And, if the bride wants one, the bachelorette party.
  • Keep a record of gifts. The MOH should jot down what presents the bride receives at her shower, and who gave them to her.
  • Do some dress shopping. Go with the bride to look for her gown, and if she asks, help shop for the bridesmaids’ dresses.
  • Coordinate the bridesmaid duties. As the “chief” bridesmaid, the MOH should schedule dress fittings.
  • Be the bride’s right-hand woman. Give her help where needed: address the invitations, write out the place cards, weigh in on the cake, assemble the reception play list, etc.

Bridesmaids

  • Attend all dress fittings.
  • Make sure you know where you need to be and what you need to be doing at all times.
  • Be a source of emotional support for the Bride at all times in the run up to the day and on the day itself.

Best Man

  • The best man hosts and coordinates the bachelor party for the groom. He may cover the costs of the bachelor party or share them with the other groomsmen.
  • He assists the groom with dressing for the wedding, and makes sure personal items are returned to the groom’s house afterwards.
  • The best man is responsible for safe keeping of the bride’s wedding ring until it is time for the exchanging of the rings.
  • The best man is in charge of toasting during the reception. If there are any special greetings to be read from those unable to attend, he reads these to the couple.

Groomsmen

  • Assist in organising the bachelor party.
  • Assist in any decoration setting up or picking up of wedding items.
  • Create and follow the time schedule for the wedding.
  • Assist with the packing up at the end of the reception. (more…)

Celebs Who Got Married In A Hurry

10 Jan

Marriage that follows dating for only a short time can last for many years, though they may not necessarily be very easy years. But impulsive marriage isn’t uncommon in Hollywood. Check out these stars who took the plunge rather quickly.

Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom

They say only fools rush in but you might not want to say that to Khloe Kardashian! After a month-long courtship, the reality star married LA Laker Lamar Odom (these Kardashians sure have a thing for basketballers, huh?). In what proved to be a tantalising finale to their brief courtship, Khloe wed Lamar at a private residence in Beverly Hills. Critics all over were convinced that the two lovebirds were just in it for the fame and that their marriage wouldn’t last. But the duo proved everyone wrong. They’ve been married for more than two years now. Major props!

Britney Spears and Kevin Federline

Because it wasn’t enough to make headlines for one of the shortest marriages of all time (55 hours) to childhood friend Jason Alexander, Brit-Brit surprised Hollywood again by marrying backup dancer, Kevin Federline after only three months (can somebody say oops she did it again?). And let’s just say, her life simply went downhill soon after.

They're still together; can you believe it?

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon

The diva extraordinaire and the America’s Got Talent host met on a video set and tied the knot in the Bahamas on April 30, 2008, after dating for a month. In spite of an 11-year age difference, these crazy kids are still going strong. Here they are showing a whole lotta love in Mimi’s new Christmas video with John Legend. You gotta admit it, they’re pretty sweet together :)

Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee

What happens when a Playboy Playmate meets a glam metal band drummer? Only the predictable. (more…)
