Hottest Bridal Jewelry

Bridal jewelry looks just as good in your hair as anywhere on your body

We at WGA love bling as much as the next gal, but we’re predicting that the hottest trends in bridal jewelry are going in the way of hair accessories rather than merely rings, earrings and necklaces.

We love the results of these bridal jewelry looks

Granted, the ring is the most important bling of all, but it’s not the only way to make a statement on your wedding day. Here are some ideas for you to sparkle and shine…

Go Vintage

Your hair will be one of the first features anyone will see, so why not make an impression? Art deco sparkly brooches, show-stopping hair vines, birdcage veils and shimmering fascinators are making a bold statement this season. Rock your inner Hollywood starlet by donning some vintage glam hair jewelry and you’ll be set to dazzle your guests and be the belle of the ball!

These are a case of less-is-more, but don't forget to add the bling!

Flowers, Feathers and Tulle

Handmade silk flower combs, feathery fascinators and frothy tulle birdcage veils are timeless and classy. Whether your hair is up or down, natural or elaborate, all you have to do is snap on one of these babies and go from zero to hero. (more…)

I couldn’t agree more. Are you still searching for that ‘it’ hairstyle? That ‘it’ hairstyle that will bring your dress, jewellery and makeup to the next level? Here are some looks to get you inspired:

Updo

An updo is a timeless way to show off your beautifully structured shoulders and neckline. This is also an elegant way to flaunt those new Bulgaris. I love how there’s a miscellany of updos you can experiment with.

For something sophisticated, no one epitomises class and poise better than Catherine-Zeta Jones (left). Note how the do just highlights those hazel browns and crystal drop earrings. But it’s essential to find a hairstyle which suits your face shape and age. Tight updos have the tendency to age even the most youthful faces. To avoid that, why not ask your hairdresser for a Greek goddess makeover? Jessica Alba’s (top right) braided bun scored a lot of points with fashion critics at the ’08 Oscars. Meanwhile, you can achieve Anne Hathaway’s (bottom left) soft and whispy look by letting a few front strands loose. This look is great for date nights too!

Hair Down

Only a Covergirl slogan could describe this look succinctly. It’s “easy and breezy”, and absolutely effortless. If you are of those lucky ones born with long and wavy tresses, I say, you can just skip the hair and just proceed to the makeup. If you’re not keen on looking too made up, just follow three steps. 1. Wash, rise, dry. 2. Use a ridiculous amount of hairspray. 3. Last not but least, flip hair. And voila! But to do this, it’s going to need a leap of faith as one wrong move might end up making you look like a disheveled bride instead of a glowing one.

Tips for Looking Perfect on Your Big Day!

30 Aug

Every bride dreams of looking like a vision in white on her wedding day. After all, eyes are going to be on her the whole night long (no pressure!). However as a bride, you not only have to plan for your wedding, but you have to plan to look good! Since there are several bases to cover, here’s our checklist to ensure you’re picture perfect.

Your Skin

We’re all prone to a case of tired skin now and again, but especially so when we’ve got a lot on our plate.  Here’s how to prep yourself up so you have that glowing skin everyone talks about:

1. Get healthy from the inside – Drink  lots of water, eat your fruits and veggies and stay away from oily/unhealthy food (you know the drill!). Or try out different skin supplements from your local health store. WGA owner Steph Chai swears by Supreme Royal Jelly which can be bought at any GNC outlet.

2. Off to bed ladies! Yup, it’s a fact that keeping to a regular sleep pattern keeps the skin looking good. One of the main reasons for disruptive sleep is stress. So take deep breaths, clear your mind and do things that relax you. If you need a little bit of help, head to your chemist and ask for any natural sleep teas. Vitacare has a great herbal blend called “Teh Malam” (not exactly subtle but as long as it works!). (more…)

What’s your bridal hairstyle?

The pitfall of too many brides when choosing their bridal hair is opting for something that has absolutely no bearing to their everyday look. While you understandably wouldn’t want to look like ‘everyday you’, you should never stray too far from home, so to speak. Go for a glamourised version of your normal look, so that you will still be comfortable with it, and not have a stranger staring back at you from the mirror! Do also keep your dress in mind when selecting your hairstyle; if your dress is long and dreamy, loose curls with flowers woven through them will not only suit the look, it will add infinitely more charm and beauty to the overall presentation.

Beach-1

As soon as you thought about wedding venues, the sun-sea-surf combination was a non-negotiable must-have for you; you’ve always dreamed of getting married by the sea, with your guests all shoe-less and dressed in linens as the fairylights twinkled in the palm trees.

Is Your Look Happy Hippy Chic?

If your style star is Mary-Kate Olsen or Daryl Hannah, chances are your look will be natural, flowing and one with nature. You’re opting for simplicity, and a few well-selected accessories will heighten your look and complete it.

Since your hair will most likely be loose and flowing around your shoulders, a good stylist is essential to help give you the natural curls you need to create the right effect. Do consider putting tiny flowers through your locks, or even opt for a simple floral wreath for understated drama

A bit of preparation before will go a long way: get a light, healthy tan in the weeks leading up to the wedding and stay far away from bottled tans! (more…)
