Guide To The Chic Chinoiserie Wedding

24 Jan

Here at WGA, we’re well aware that everyone’s probably still very much in the Chinese New Year mood (Well, at least I know I am!). So, we’ve decided to write a little feature on how to have a fabulous chinoiserie wedding!

Chinoise what? Just in case you were wondering, chinoiserie is (originally) French for an object or decoration reflecting Chinese qualities or motifs. If you’re planning a spring wedding or a party pertaining to Asian cultures or travel, well you’re in luck! Here are some ideas of ways to incorporate a little chinoiserie chic into your wedding.

Cherry blossom icing? Talk about yum! The cake topper translates to “Double Happiness,” an auspicious Chinese blessing. And of course, no Chinese wedding tea ceremony can ever be complete without an heirloom tea set…

Chinoiserie programs, anyone? Come on, you gotta love the DIY Chinese frog buttons! The jars could be filled with scrumptious little treats, like macadamias, rock candy or even Jelly Bellies!

Love From Another World

It’s probably a case of “opposites attract” with these two – Paul is a theater performer and Tracy is a business writer. And it was definitely a case of wedding planning from another world as the couple lives in Sydney and liaised with the talents of Elegante Wedding through phone calls and e-mails for six months!

Pictures courtesy of WGA vendors Elegante Wedding and Louis Pang Studio.I liked this album from the start. Louis Pang always has an eye for shots like this. You always see pictures of the girls getting ready – sometimes we forget that the guys have to get dressed, too ;)

Nice little father-and-son moment right there.

Oh, the perils of the pick-up-the-bride games!

I am so loving that gorgeous kwa the bride’s got on… (more…)
