Get Me To The Church

9 Nov

I’m not sure why but the whole time I was looking through these pictures from WGA vendor Crossroads, I had the song Get Me To The Church On Time playing in my head. Although I must say the bride and groom look pretty relaxed here. What do you think?

If I were getting married I’d probably be a bundle of nerves looking for a distraction, Tweeting or something…

Perfect Ten Wedding

15 Nov

It’s funny how numbers have dictated our lives over the years. Western society never took to ’13′, the Chinese love their lucky 8′s and overall everyone wants a wedding date with a ring to it. So when the clock struck twelve & the 10th of the 10th of 2010 recently arrived… couples around the world spurred into action and tied the knot.

Though there were many weddings held that day, we especially love Darren & Weina’s do in Kuala Lumpur.  Weina works in an Ad agency, so we think you can perhaps attribute the funky 60′s theme & colour coordination to her!

Too awesome for words! This brown Beetle is retro, quirky and above all epitomizes 60s ‘cool’. Instead of sourcing the most expensive cars (*ahem* as we tend to do in Asia) for the wedding day, why not wheels with personality?

Green, brown & yellow were the dominant colours for the day. The bridesmaids look cute in their polka numbers – can anyone say swinging sixties?

Forget location, it’s decoration, decoration, decoration!

You’ve got the right dress, the right hotel, the right photographer (and hopefully groom!) – but when it comes down to it – have you really got it… right? You could be the most beautiful bride but if your venue is looking plain and tardy; don’t expect that million dollar photo. For the perfect wedding, you need all the chess pieces in place. So here are some photos that we think will send some inspiration and colour your way…

simple-red-theme
If you’re a DIY bride, try opting for simple colour themes or you’ll bridezilla yourself out.  In the above pic, the bride has chosen a simple red theme. A bit of red on the menu, red flowers in the middle and a single red rose on the plate is just as effective as spending tons of dosh on a huge bouquet.

Don’t forget, less is more.

Conventional
For something more traditional and contemporary, you can’t go wrong with your whites, silver and gold. Rather than going for contrast, these weddings have chose similar colours that complement and blend into eachother. Do check with your reception venue if they have chairs available that match your theme. If they only have the standard ones, think outside the box and try decorating the chairs. For example, if you’re using gold as your main colour, wrap the chairs around with gold or cream ribbon sashes. I must say, that I do love a white wedding though (oh, just like Ivanka! And Billy Idol..). (more…)

Remember when TWG interviewed local celeb Miss Malaysia World Deborah Henry? Well, the wedding day finally arrived in December and saw Deborah’s elder sister Rebecca tie the knot with her long-term boyfriend Dinesh Noveland. As they are a Christian family, a traditional church wedding was held at St. Marys Cathedral in Kuala Lumpur.

Rebecca is lucky to come from a big family – rather than hire a wedding planner, she had a bevy of aunties and uncles who would come to the family home once a week or so for ‘meetings’!
