Put A Ring On It!

11 Oct

Choosing the right wedding jewellery can be a rather daunting task, especially if you want to choose jewellery that is timeless and high quality. When shopping for wedding rings, of course, you have to focus on the stones. There are sparkly solitaires, intricately arranged pavé diamonds, and wedding rings designed with coloured stones like sapphires and emeralds too. Here are a few celebrities who took (or are taking) the plunge in 2011 donning their jaw-dropping sparklers…

Still turning heads at 51

Shannon Tweed

Goel Talasazan is known for transforming jewellery into extraordinary masterpieces which highlight his passion and creativity in the art of making beautiful jewellery. His latest work of art: Shannon Tweed’s (wife of KISS’s Gene Simmons) 27-carat Goel Talasazan engagement ring. This engagement ring holds a total of almost 26 carats of top quality diamonds! Definitely one of the biggest rocks we’ve ever laid our eyes on. The center diamond alone weighed in at 24.22 carats. The side stones, almost a carat each. Creating this ring was no easy task as it took several weeks to prepare and make sure that it looked nothing short of ordinary. Simmons was so impressed with how the engagement ring turned out that he had Goel start on a diamond eternity band right after.

The couple had their rings engraved, with Simmons’s reading, “My Love Now and Forever,” and his bride’s inscribed with the words, “You are my first love and you will be my last love.”

Can you believe that this former Sports Illustrated swimsuit model is about to hit 40? We know we can't!

Molly Sims

Sims, 38, received the huge Diane von Furstenberg diamond sparkler from film producer Scott Stuber, who proposed the weekend of May 20 at the actress’s home.

“I love everything about it!” Sims beamed when she told us of her new accessory, adding that she has “no idea how big it is.” “He designed it. He did it with my girlfriend on his own. He surprised me; I never sent him a picture. He did it all.”

Only the biggest and the best will cut it for the beautiful Kim K

Kim Kardashian

There’s only one way to describe this stunning Lorraine Schwartz: sparkly, ridiculously expensive and just downright gorgeous. How expensive you ask? We’re talking $2 million! Schwartz exclusively told E! News that Kris Humphries got a special quote engraved inside the band of the ring, which also features a tiny heart engraved between the couple’s initials. He went for an emerald cut, with a 16.5-carat center stone and a couple of two-carat trapezoid stones surrounding it. We’re thinking she wanted something very distinct from her sister Khloe’s $850,000 ring from Lamar.

Did you know that Kim K’s emerald cut engagement ring is laced with secret Bible passages? Funny, we never took the reality show starlet to be spiritual… (more…)

It’s All About The Bling

4 Nov

Put a ring on it :)

My heart skipped a beat (okay… several beats) while I was writing this article; I couldn’t help but ooh and aah each time I came across a picture of a beautiful wedding ring, which happened very often. Here at WGA, we’ve decided to do a little post on wedding rings because unlike the dress or the shoes, you’re likely to be wearing it for the rest of your life. When you first venture out in search of the perfect wedding ring there are a couple of things to keep in mind to avoid feeling overwhelmed and confused.

Know your type

The choices are endless and with all that variety you’re bound to get confused so it wouldn’t hurt to do your research before heading out in search of the perfect wedding ring. If simplicity is your style then you may opt for a traditional wedding ring which consists of a plain wedding band. If you like your bling then try to narrow down your preferences before you go shopping, after all there are so many different diamond cuts you can choose from.

Get creative

We’re all about personalizing things here at WGA, whether it’s the invitation cards or the deco so we’re definitely up for personalizing wedding rings. You can choose to have your rings engraved with initials, pet names, really anything you want (as long as it fits).

Stick to the budget (well, try to…)

We know this is a big challenge especially when you’ve found the perfect ring and it’s unfortunately out of your budget. First things first, weigh the ups and downs and see whether you can afford to spend a little extra dough on the ring. If you can’t, then fret not; diversify your search and you’ll most likely end up with a lovely ring that is well within your budget.

Choosing the perfect wedding jewelry

14 Apr

Diamonds or pearls? Platinum or gold? Choosing the perfect pieces of jewelry to adorn on your special day are very important. Here at WGA we’ve compiled a list of do’s and dont’s in regards to choosing your wedding jewelry.

Bridal-jewels-1

Do’s

1. Consider the neckline of your gown, if you have a v-shaped, sweetheart or halter neckline then a necklace with a pendant or drop  would compliment it beautifully. . If you have a strapless dress, you could opt for a simple or statement necklace, a choker necklace, drop or multi-strand necklace of many different designs.

2. Think about how you can work family jewels into your bridal look. For sentimental reasons you may choose Grandma’s pearls, your favorite aunt’s diamond earrings or your mother’s charm bracelet instead of buying new pieces.

3. Do pay attention to the beadwork on your dress. Are you going to go for a simple, understated dress? If so, you can be more daring when it comes to your bridal jewelry. As a general rule, if your dress is heavily embellished go easy on the bridal jewelry as you don’t want to overdo it, a simple wedding necklace should suffice and compliment a busy wedding dress beautifully.

4. Let your hairstyle, headpiece and necklace dictate the earrings you choose. Larger and more intricate earrings particularly those with a drop, look great with upswept hair, whereas simple studs or small bejeweled hoops may be the perfect addition to a dramatic necklace or decorative veil or tiara.

5. Finally try on all the jewelry with your bridal ensemble before you make your final decision. It may look perfect in the catalog or under the glass but be less than stunning when you try it on.
