I'm still around!

Hello WGA readers!

Long time no chat, but don’t forget I am a busy bride-to-be and a full-time employee (not to mention 24/7 fiance haha). Steph has asked me to update everyone on my wedding plans and experience thus far. If you have any questions please feel free to leave a comment and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can! My wedding is only 5 months away now! Bridezilla stress? Yes!!!

Marriot
Venue
: There are two wedding venues – Marriott KL for the reception and we are still deciding on another smaller venue for the registration. Whatever the case, it will definitely not be at the government office! Although I’m up for the idea of an outdoor wedding, the reality is I would like my guests to be comfortable and not make a mad dash for an air-conditioned room after the registration. Ideally, I’d like the vibe of the registration to be very personal and intimate – where guests can relax, mingle and enjoy the canapés and champagne.

Canapes
Menu: Canapés and champagne for the registration and a ten-course Chinese banquet at Marriott. Thinking of serving the wedding cake too as we wanted a real cake!

Prov
Bridal Gown:
Decided on Pronovias and it is taking 20 weeks to make… ordered it in January and it’s only coming in May – very anxious!! Simply in love with the lace detailing and the trail of the dress. Unfortunately, I can’t show you a photo should my fiance be secretly reading WGA (the above pic is instead from the Pronovias 2011 collection)! My bridesmaids will all be in chiffon champagne dresses and are designing it themselves.

Jiangnan-Dadao
Kwa (Chinese gown)
: I bought this in Guangzhou during my recent trip there. Head to Jiangnan Dadao which is also known as ‘street of bridal shops’. It’s basically a consortium of bridal shops that are supposed to be quite affordable when compared to say Malaysia and Singapore. However, I found the wedding gowns there were a little… ‘china’ looking – if you get what I mean. Though I did end up finding my kwa there! For anything chinese, Jiangnan Dadao is (naturally) great!

Initially, I had been thinking of a white lace cheongsam, but when I put it on at the shops I looked quite ordinary… and didn’t quite stand out. It was at another shop where my husband-to-be was trying on a traditional Chinese attire for the groom – where I found so many kwa’s and decided to just try one on. Magically it fit perfectly, the dress looked as though it was custom made for me! My fiancé was soooooo impressed with the way I looked, without hesitation we bought the kwa. I too thought it made me look more like the bride. The hand embroidery was so refined and elaborate at the same time. It had taken the lady TWO full months to complete my kwa.

Shoes: Still looking! I’m thinking bright red or gold stilettos.

Wedding Theme:
Reception: Romantic… white with a touch of pastel! And lots and lots of candles!!

Registration: Shanghainese theme – all my chi muis will be in cheongsams and the heng tais in chinese shirts.

Villa-Mana
Hens Party:
Bali with 11 of my closest girlfriends from M’sia, Singapore and Australia! Initially, I didn’t think so many of them could make it as they are all career girls, so I’m ecstatic to hear that they’ve all already booked their flights to my hens party. Thanks a bunch to my maids of honour, Steph and Jenida for organising it! I cannot wait….they are all keeping me in suspense! All I know is that we’ve booked the very beautiful Villa Mana! I have requested for no dodgy strippers as well – I just want to have fun with my girls!
