Fancy A Garden Wedding?

| by

In the whirlwind of globalisation and modernism, I can’t help but smile when I see people staying true to tradition. After all, it is the beauty and individuality of our culture that defines us and there’s no reason why we have to give it all up in the name of progress. Phoebe and Kai Huat show us how it’s done in their own traditional ceremonies. Scroll down and tell me if you don’t agree that everything looks simply stunning albeit conventional…

First things first, the good old pick-up-the-bride games, in which a man must go through a series of tests in order to get to his lady love. Oh, the things a man has to do to prove his adoration for a woman (Well, why shouldn’t he? Hehe…)

Bite what? Now that’s disturbing ;-)

Next on the agenda was the tea ceremony. Paying due respects to elders and ancestors is a must in any traditional wedding. You can never have too many blessings, right?

The Chinese culture is one rich with history and customs, though modern ceremonies don’t always adhere to all traditions. Check out our past article on what’s usually expected.

Apparently, it’s now a trend to combine the tea ceremony with the registration of marriage, which was what our lovely couple opted for. Even more convenient if you could also have it in your own garden or backyard…

I myself personally love this idea. The fans attached to the frame offer cool comfort for those sitting underneath, but keeping it clear with a transparent tent ensures nothing blocks your view of the gorgeous surroundings. Of course, there is also the option of an indoor garden wedding, if you don’t want to risk rain or excessive heat…

Gotta have our pretty details ^_^ Cute birdcage, huh?

And flowers sunny-side up…

Of course, what wedding would be complete without a fabulous reception dinner?

Talk about your chinoiserie chic. I don’t know how The Club@Bukit Utama managed it but they actually fit a whopping 92 tables in there! Now that is one grand dinner :-)

A long day for the couple – another option ladies is to have your signing ceremony on one day and the reception on another. Of course, you do need to check if your lovely bridesmaids & groomsmen are free!

Congratulations, Kai Huat and Phoebe – and I heart the yellow, that’s always been a tricky colour to use ;-)
