Whilst most of us in Asia think of the beach when it comes to a destination wedding, what about those who reside nearby in the land of Down Under? For those south of our equator, wineries are popular locations to hold the wedding of your dreams. And why not? With pristine scenery, rolling hills and those endless barrels of wine nearby (I’m just saying), what better place is there to say “I do”.
These pretty pics are courtesy of a WGA reader who resides in Melbourne. Though she’d like her name to remain private (as some brides do), she kindly wrote this post on her do at the famous winery, Stones of the Yarra Valley.
After visiting numerous wineries, we decided upon Stones of the Yarra Valley. On the day itself, a sense of calm enveloped us as we approached the gorgeous long driveway up to the barn. Behind the glass walled barn/ restaurant are spectacular views of the vineyard.
A short stroll down the path, we stopped by the Dairy – very charming. Right next to it is the Chapel, which was cosy, rustic and simply beautiful.
Wedding Dress: Bonita Couture
This was one of the first dresses I saw during my search. I went shopping with an open mind but I do have a very soft spot for lace. Tiers of beaded French lace and layers of pleated tulle – love!
Wedding Shoes: Kate Spade
These pair of shoes were meant to be mine! After searching high and low for the perfect sole, I wandered into the David Jones shoe department. I saw these Kate Spades and found out there was only 1 left which was in my size and on sale! Fate & happiness in a pair of shoes =)
Wedding flowers: Debbie O’Neill
Debbie was recommended by a friend of mine. She was very reasonably priced and knew the venue well, so it was an easy decision to choose her.
Wedding cake: Special Treats by Carolyn
I found Carolyn through hours of scouring through wedding forums! She was very highly recommended and had a great price point, too. I saw a photo of one of her creations in a blog and immediately liked her style. When we went for a cake test, I was sold! Chocolate for us! It was mouth-wateringly delicious!
Wedding Favours: Suga
Suga is a great Australian brand that specialises in making rock candy. We personalised ours with our names, red stripes and the flavour – passionfruit, of course! They were great and easy to deal with.
Jazz Band: The Shuffle Club
We highly recommend this jazz band. Adrian and I had heard them play at a friend’s wedding and while searching for a band, we went to one of their weekend performances in the city. They really made our night!
Wedding Stationary: Papermarc
Despite my lack of artistic skills, I managed to create a monogram which we included in our wedding invitations. I had an embosser made with our monogram so that we could incorporate that into our envelopes as well and it makes a great keepsake.
Afterparty: Lodge Bar Sebel Heritage Yarra Valley
Bridal scent: Vera Wang Bouquet
Thank You cards: Amazon.com
“I wish I could relive that day – as cliché as it sounds, it was truly magical to us! Good luck with your wedding, WGA readers ”
