Nothing but the best - Bonjour, Dimitri from Paris!

As promised here are the dazzling, snazzling and (censored) photos from the rockin afterparty of Julia & Donovan (JuDo)’s wedding in Kuala Lumpur. Dimitri is an internationally renowned house DJ and (more importantly) a close friend of Donovan. He very kindly flew all the way from Paris to spin some of his favourite beats at Sultan’s for everyone. Since the reception was in the ballroom of the Mandarin Oriental, it seemed only fitting to have the afterparty at the MO bar, Sultan’s Lounge.

The afterparty is that perfect opportunity to let go and boogie around a bit. It’s also opportune time for single guests to mingle (haha)! But if you’re planning an afterparty, try to keep it as close to your wedding reception as possible. Should you have the venue far away from the reception, you will no doubt lose some guests who are lazy (or too drunk!) to drive over.

My tip: Keep your afterparty close, and your guests even closer!!

Spot the celeb! Do you see WGA writer Fay Khoo?

Why did you decide to hold the afterparty?

JuDo: Because the dinner reception included a lot of family, and there was no alcohol, we wanted to have a celebration where our friends could let loose.

Also, our good friend Dimitri from Paris (the best House DJ in the world), agreed to fly all the way from Paris to play an exclusive 5-hour set for our wedding.

Notice: Right arm up, then left arm up! Signs that Don was having a good time!!

What kind of alcohol did you serve?

JuDo: We had customised blue Astro Boy and red Cosmic Girl cocktails, along with champagne, whiskey and vodka.

Our advice is, don’t spill any drinks on your gown. And always dress to undress.

Did you change your dress for it?

Julia: Yes, I did. I wanted something I could dance in, so I went with a 60’s inspired sequined cocktail dress from Sonny San.

Sultan's-Lounge
Thank you to JuDo for their answers there! WGA readers, if you’re interested in using Sultan’s lounge for your wedding afterparty, then here are a few shots of the place minus hundreds of people.

I’ve been there quite a few times and it is very stylish and chic – if you’re looking for the ‘in-crowd’ then SL is one of Kuala Lumpur’s places to go. Bear in mind, it is at the Mandarin Oriental so not quite the place if you’re on a budget!

I couldn’t resist. Another shot of Dimitri! Yes, I was a wee groupie that night (Halow, can I take a picture please)!

My bff Jasmine and I wore these 60s-styled sequin dresses that I found in the markets of Bangkok.

We thought we looked ‘funky’  in real life but for some reason the pics made us look bloated! Is it the sequins??!

If so, please avoid sequined bridal gowns ladies!!
