Put A Ring On It!

Choosing the right wedding jewellery can be a rather daunting task, especially if you want to choose jewellery that is timeless and high quality. When shopping for wedding rings, of course, you have to focus on the stones. There are sparkly solitaires, intricately arranged pavé diamonds, and wedding rings designed with coloured stones like sapphires and emeralds too. Here are a few celebrities who took (or are taking) the plunge in 2011 donning their jaw-dropping sparklers…

Still turning heads at 51

Shannon Tweed

Goel Talasazan is known for transforming jewellery into extraordinary masterpieces which highlight his passion and creativity in the art of making beautiful jewellery. His latest work of art: Shannon Tweed’s (wife of KISS’s Gene Simmons) 27-carat Goel Talasazan engagement ring. This engagement ring holds a total of almost 26 carats of top quality diamonds! Definitely one of the biggest rocks we’ve ever laid our eyes on. The center diamond alone weighed in at 24.22 carats. The side stones, almost a carat each. Creating this ring was no easy task as it took several weeks to prepare and make sure that it looked nothing short of ordinary. Simmons was so impressed with how the engagement ring turned out that he had Goel start on a diamond eternity band right after.

The couple had their rings engraved, with Simmons’s reading, “My Love Now and Forever,” and his bride’s inscribed with the words, “You are my first love and you will be my last love.”

Can you believe that this former Sports Illustrated swimsuit model is about to hit 40? We know we can't!

Molly Sims

Sims, 38, received the huge Diane von Furstenberg diamond sparkler from film producer Scott Stuber, who proposed the weekend of May 20 at the actress’s home.

“I love everything about it!” Sims beamed when she told us of her new accessory, adding that she has “no idea how big it is.” “He designed it. He did it with my girlfriend on his own. He surprised me; I never sent him a picture. He did it all.”

Only the biggest and the best will cut it for the beautiful Kim K

Kim Kardashian

There’s only one way to describe this stunning Lorraine Schwartz: sparkly, ridiculously expensive and just downright gorgeous. How expensive you ask? We’re talking $2 million! Schwartz exclusively told E! News that Kris Humphries got a special quote engraved inside the band of the ring, which also features a tiny heart engraved between the couple’s initials. He went for an emerald cut, with a 16.5-carat center stone and a couple of two-carat trapezoid stones surrounding it. We’re thinking she wanted something very distinct from her sister Khloe’s $850,000 ring from Lamar.

Did you know that Kim K’s emerald cut engagement ring is laced with secret Bible passages? Funny, we never took the reality show starlet to be spiritual…

Blue suits Kate's skin tone, don't you think?

Kate Middleton

The sapphire and diamond band was famously worn by the late Diana, Princess of Wales and given to Miss Middleton by Prince William when he proposed on holiday. Diana, who died in 1997, chose the elegant cluster ring after becoming engaged to Charles in 1981 and William handing it on to his wife-to-be will undoubtedly have been hugely emotional. At the time it cost £28,000 and was from a selection presented to Diana by jewellers Garrard. Because it was not made for her specially, it was open to the public to buy. “Obviously, she’s not going to be around to share in any of the fun and excitement of it all, so this is my way of keeping her sort of close to it all,” William said of his late mother.

Because the ring couldn’t fit the slim and trim then princess-in-waiting, Middleton asked Crown jewellers G Collins and Sons to attach small platinum beads inside the bottom of the ring to make it the right size, according to
The Sun.

Hopefully second time's a charm for the Oscar-winning actress!

Reese Witherspoon

CAA agent, Jim Toth, 40, worked with jeweller William Goldberg to design the 4-carat, $250,000 Ashoka cut diamond ring before popping the question in December. Toth worked with Goldberg to design the perfect sparkler for his bride-to-be. Set on a pavé diamond-and-platinum band, Goldberg says Toth was drawn to the rarity of the Ashoka diamond, particularly with its 62 displayed facets and rounded corners.

We think it’s sweet how he went the extra mile to get this very rare diamond ring for Reese. You can tell that he really wanted it to come from him and for it to be completely unique.

Now back to work, girls! Reality bites, doesn’t it? I wonder if Kris Humphries has a brother…
