Fashion TV for Tamarind 10

“I LOVE YOU FTV.” You know the drill! I have to say it was pretty cool to have Fashion TV cover the recent 10th anniversary of the Tamarind Group, owner of WGA vendor, Tamarind Springs. Yes, the perfect spot for an intimate, small wedding, Tamarind Springs recently celebrated 10 years in the biz and lil ol’ me was asked to host the party, held in collaboration with MIGF. Besides there being the usual beautiful people & who’s who, there was also… (yes, you guessed it) tables and tables of food!

You can always bet on entertainment when it comes to the Tamarind Springs group. The dancers (choreographed by the lovely Maple Loo) were dressed in ethnic costumes and aptly called the ‘Tamarind Apsara Devas’, in conjunction with the group’s logo. Mythology has it that Apsaras are ‘celestial women’ known to be youthful, elegant and proficient in the art of dancing.

Tamarind Springs is nestled within a tropical forest setting in the Ampang area of Kuala Lumpur. The venue actually consists of three restaurants, Tamarind Springs, Il Tempio and Mandi Mandi. Mandi Mandi has a wonderful moonlit pool, which was perfect for guests to lounge and mingle by.

Girls, do you remember Christian Capes who won the Cleo Bachelor of the Year award a couple of years ago? He is a presenter for unseen.tv so since he was interviewing people, I interviewed him!

Just SOME of the amazing delicacies that were served. In these pics, treat yourself to decadent desserts like a plate of Tako or baked apple stuffed with almond liquor biscuits and topped off with cream & mascarpone cheese. Okie, now I’m hungry again…

Given the date was 10.10.10, when the clock struck 10:10 p.m., I announced it was officially the Tamarind 10 anniversary and the performances began. Besides the Tamarind Apsara Devas, there were Orang Asli dancers who had fire sticks with them (I felt the heat, literally!). As someone who goes to many events and has seen far too many fashion shows (save me), I have to say the dances were pretty different and amazing. Imagine having your very own ‘jungle wedding’ with the Tamarind Apsara Devas!

If you’re interested to hold your wedding at one of the Tamarind Springs outlets, jump on their website or contact their wedding director, Joey Leong, on 012-7910 370 or via email,  joey@tamarindrestaurants.com. Just for a rough estimate, for wedding dinners you’re looking at around RM 168/pax (including drinks & food).
