Go mad for red and pink accents

Wear your hair pulled back with red roses pinned into your chignon or carry an overflowing bouquet of red roses. If you’re a little adventurous, opt for a white dress with red accents. Go further by having your bridesmaids wear dissimilar shades of pink and red, and groomsmen wear red ties with varying red and pink boutonnières.

Of course, V-Day doesn’t necessarily mean having to stick to a monotonous range of red hues. Take the liberty of mixing up your wedding palette with creams, ivories, pale pinks, roses and champagnes.

Light up the room with candles!

For that rustic touch and hand-crafted look, decorate your wedding venue with scented candles by American favourite, Yankee Candle. Luxe brides can opt to go with diptyque candles, which are all the rage in Europe. They have a wide assortment of lush, intoxicating candles that will surely leave your guests in an excellent mood.

Great news for candle lovers in Malaysia: Yankee candles are available at select Parkson outlets while diptyque candles can be purchased at Kens Apothecary, Empire Shopping Gallery.

Heat up the dance floor with a Valentine’s Day mix

People will be in the mood to party and tear up the dance floor, so get them on the floor for a good slow dance. As a parting gift, send everyone home with a copy.

Set hearts racing at the dessert table

Today is  not the day to be concerned with your diet. Send your guests into a sugar frenzy with cupcakes, ice cream, heart-shaped cookies and last but not least, chocolate-covered strawberries. You can just work it all off at the gym the next day ;-)

Brew some love potion for your guests

If you plan to serve drinks at your reception, offer pink lemonade or for something more grown-up, white chocolate cosmos perhaps? Garnish the glasses with fresh fruit or flowers to add elegance.

Of course, feel free to add in many other elements that you feel make the day totally unique to you. Red, pink, and a slew of hearts will never go out of style, so play it up and have fun crafting the perfect details for your big day. Happy Valentine’s, everybody!
