It was a weekend I had been looking forward to for like forever. Former Miss Malaysia Wong Sze Zen’s Hens party, was the perfect excuse to tart it up in leopard attire, maybe see a stripper and clock up the mayhem. Thanks to a bunch of people donning Red Shirts in Thailand, we sadly had to move our Hens party from Bangkok to neighbouring Singapore (literally 3 days before we were due to leave!). Despite the change of plans, six of Zen’s girlies made it down from the likes of China, Hong Kong and Malaysia. Since Zen is a former Miss Malaysia, there were two other former Miss Malaysias onboard (Deborah Henry & Emmeline Ng), plus three non-beauty queens – Jay Menon (Mix FM DJ), Mun Shing (banker from HK!) and myself.
But before we delve into the debauchery, I must firstly tell the grave tale of our roadtrip down…
Word to the wis(er), check your tyres before you leave!!
Yes, halfway down to Singapore, one of the tyres retaliated to our non-stop gossiping (a male tyre I suspect) and decided to EXPLODE.
Talk about damsels in distress.
The tyre bursting made me realize the great divide between men and women.
Change spare tyre? No idea.
Who to call? No idea!
Finally, after a few frantic calls here and there to ‘man friends’… help was on the way…
Tyre fixed. Thank you Malaysian Highway Patrol (surprisingly efficient)!
But wait. Our Amazing Race was not over yet. Challenge #2 – pump the spare tyre.
What to do? NO IDEA (again!).
Boy, did I feel blonde that day. Once again, we did the only thing we knew how – asked men for help!
After what became an eight-hour ride, we finally made it to the sunny shores of Sentosa in Singapore. Luckily, one of the girls had a beach house with 3 large bedrooms and a little pool to boot. The perfect house for a perfect Hens!
Still in Amazing Race mode; in 60 minutes we managed to wash-up, make-up and dress-up – just in time for our dinner appointment at the rather trendy restaurant and bar, ‘The White Rabbit’.
Ah, the first cheers before the night truly begins! Here are some snippets from the girls:
Emmeline: The atmosphere and ambience was great at White Rabbit. The deco was a contemporary classic with bits of witty art. It was very relaxed and warm. I was very happy with my salad n pasta… and champagne..!
Deborah: White rabbit was the perfect setting for our wild and sexy animal night… haha!
Indeed, post a few more glasses and chat later…
The many faces of the bride-to-be!
Don’t you love her veil? It’s by the uber-stylish duo ‘Sereni & Shentel’ and is aptly called “Kiss me please! Bride to be”.
This is what happens after a few glasses and a superlong roadtrip. Art, forever and ever my worst subject!
As a little touch, we got special cupcakes from Cupcake Chic made for the Hens party! Since Friday night was animal print, the cupcakes were in sync with the theme and ‘our personalities.’ Err… I’m not ‘Sheep’ by the way!
Okie, so you’ve seen the nice pics and you wanna get down to the real stuff, oui?

"Bob #1" - After buying 5 kisses (hey big spender!), this young lad quickly booked a trip to Malaysia, truly Asia.
Armed with mini-photos of Zen (check out our arms), a bucket and board with her name on it – we set off to pimp her out for $10 a kiss and $5 a hug!
Our first move was to target the innocent patrons of White Rabbit!
Look at those smiles! These men simply can’t believe their luck -
“O’ what a pleasant surprise! Why, I must come to White Rabbit more often!”
“Hmmm $10 good deal! Cheaper than buying a drink…”
“OMG this hug is amaaaaazing”
After meeting our ROI at White Rabbit, it was time to set off to our next spot – The Butter Factory!

Outside Butter with my Singaporean friend Lilli - thanks to you & Harry for helping us with the table!
Now stationed at One Fullerton, Butter is known for a younger crowd – but I thought the hip hop room and podiums were just purrfect for our night out!
Dancing queens. And *ahem*, that’s the only photo I can share with you all (Yes, in Malaysian fashion – we censor too!).
The rest of the weekend was spent lazing around at the villa, shopping hungover at ION and running around Zouk/ Velvet come Saturday night.
Here are our list of tips:
Play the kiss/hug game: To make a signboard, bucket and stickers of your own for a Hens – just head to Cziplee in Bangsar. I managed to buy everything there – including the bucket! Spent just under an hour there as they were kind enough to help me out with colours, design and so on! The mini-stickers are a nice touch as we gave them out to guys who bought the kisses on the cheeks (must give free gift lah!). The cost is reasonable and the service is great – do ask for Jason or Alvin if you drop by.
If you’re not in Malaysia, just find any printer store and bring along some jpegs of pics you’d like printed out.
Hen’s veil – I had a look in K.L and Singapore, but found it difficult to find a ‘cool’ Hens veil that didn’t shout “Yo, I’m tacky”. So I contacted Sereni & Shentel (Malaysian Tatler covergirls and fellow Sarawakians!), who were kind enough to specially make us a “Kiss me! Bride to be!” in black. If you would like one, just contact them here. Or, check out their very pretty bridal range that girls from Australia to Asia to the UK are mad about!

But the most important thing of all? Was the Bride happy?!
Zen: Yes Steph, the Bride had a fabulous time! The best part is having the girls here. BKK, SG – doesn’t matter where, as long as your besties are with you. *Hugs hugs hugs*. Thanks again, gals!
Oh… and if you’re wondering what happened to the stripper:
Bob #2: Zen’s surprise stripper came dressed to impress; unfortunately the hens hadn’t managed to collect enough money to actually pay him to strip.
Ha, ha just kidding! This lad apparently went to Oxford - now, a true gentleman would never charge for a strip
